Distribution (Conductor)

Overhead distribution line factory-formed helical fittings can be used for protecting, terminating, repairing and splicing conductors. Various models can be used on bare or jacketed conductors, and allow for an easy installation without any nuts, bolts or washers.

Armor Rods

Armor Rods are designed to protect conductors by reducing bending, compression, and abrasion at the support point, particularly where handties are used. Protection against flashover damage is also provided. Armor Rods are recommended as the minimum conductor protection for spans of 300-ft. (91m) or more.

When no more than 50% of the outside strands on an ACSR or Aluminum conductor have been damaged at the support point, Armor Rods may be used to repair damage, thereby restoring 100% of the rated conductance and strength.

Armor Rods may be tapped over; however, the use of an oxide inhibitor is recommended.

Armor Rods are available in two lengths: one for single support and one for double support if distance between the supports is 12 inches (30.5 cm) or less.

Line Guards

Line Guards are designed to protect conductors by reducing bending, compression and abrasive action to a minimum. Line Guards are recommended as the minimum conductor protection for spans of less than 300 ft. (91 m).

When no more than 25% of the outside strands of an ACSR or Aluminum Conductor have been damaged, thereby restoring 100% of rated conductance and strength.

Do not use Line Guards for repair at the support point.

Line Guards may be tapped over; however, the use of an inhibitor is recommended.

Line Guards are available in two lengths for each conductor type: one for single support and one for double support, if distance between the supports is 12 inches (30 cm) or less. Armor Rods are designed to protect conductors by reducing bending, compression, and abrasion at the support point, particularly where handties are used. Protection against flashover damage is also provided. Armor Rods are recommended as the minimum conductor protection for spans of 300-ft. (91m) or more.

Splices

Splices are designed to repair or connect guys and messenger strands or conductors. When properly applied, the splice will develop the full rated breaking strength of the conductor or strand manufactured to ASTM A.475 EHS or CSA G12 grade 180 specifications.

Splices are not intended to be reused once they have been installed. Splices for strand or conductor sizes not listed can be supplied on request.

Conductor Splices will restore original conductivity to all-aluminum, aluminum alloy, copper, and ACSR type conductors.

Full rated breaking strength will be restored to homogeneous stranded conductors. On ACSR, strength will be restored to all aluminum strands, but not the core. Scratch brushing is recommended on weathered conductors.

Deadends

Dead Ends are designed for termination of conductors in order to meet the strength requirements of primary, secondary, and sub-stations lines. Base on conductors type and strength the proper raw materials must be chosen in accordance with.

Dead Ends are right-hand lay.

Dead Ends are open helix loop for conductor sizes up to .500 inch diameter and close helix loop for larger conductor sizes.

Dead Ends are not designed for tapping. Tapping can be done by leaving a tail on the conductor to which suitable fittings may then be attached.

Dead Ends are not to be reused once they have been installed.

Service Ends

Service Ends, are designed for termination of ACSR, Smooth Body ACSR, Compacted ACSR,

All-Aluminum, Aluminum Alloy, Compacted Aluminum and neutral messengers of self-supporting cable at service drop points.

Lay direction of both the Service End and the conductor must be the same. Lay direction is right hand lay.

Service Ends are designed for service drop spans up to 150 feet.

Service Ends are not designed for tapping. Tapping can be done by leaving a tail on the conductor to which suitable fittings may be attached.
